Information for patients and how to participate
How to participate

Research by ALOA members is approved by Ethics Committees of the relevant organisations and the participating Hospitals. The Ethics Committees take into account the likelihood that the project will lead to information relevant to improving health and/or the treatments for cancer patients.

Once the research is approved, the Investigators arrange for patients to be invited to participate in the donation of tissue for organoid cultures and storage of the organoids. The patients are told what the projects aim to accomplish and they are required to give their consent for their tissue to be used by the investigators and their research teams.

Where an appropriate clinical trial, using the organoid assays, is available, patients will be invited to participate in the trial where their treatment may be influenced by the response of their cancer organoids to specific drugs or drug combinations.
